This is my intro paragraph please tell me what is wrong. ?

Frederick Dougl, the son of a white man and a black slave, was born in to slavery with a past, present, but no future. He was subjected to many hardships, he never had time to stay with a owner for a prolonged amount of time. Despite the odds, he learned how to read and eventually managed to escape and created a future. Dougl went on to write many books about his life. In one of his book Narrative of the Life of Frederick Dougl, An American Slave, Dougl provides an elaborate examination of the hardships of slavery. Frederick Dougl' firsthand recounts the whippings, beatings, and hangings he observed as a slave and the victims that faced the cruelest whippings and beatings were more often than not women.
