If people really believe in heaven, then why do they fear death so much?

And go to such great lengths to prevent themselves and others from dying. Isn't death a wonderful thing then, because you get to go to heaven? Why bother doing anything with your measly 80 years on earth when you are going to spend the next eternity in heaven?
