Why is 'okay' for a man to make significantly more income than woman but not vice versa?

It would surprise me if people thought it was odd if women made more than men. The most qualified/experienced - or the one whose market value is more, is more qualified to earn more, be it man or woman. People who say more women than men, marry down, should really get their heads out of their s before even attempting to think.
