Spiritually speaking, What is life and consciousness when you break it all down?

Since we don't have other tool-using sentients to compare ourselves with, we have to compare ourselves to what we have available, animals. We are aware of our surroundings, we are aware of the future and can plan ahead, we are aware things exist that we can't touch. Every culture from every corner of the world...wait, why am I wasting my time by answering your question? You won't give me best answer unless I agree with you.
