What do the deathly hallows really mean? (A or B or your own answer)?

As we all know that there were three brothers...(lets skip that part) so as the three brothers made the bridge with magic the death showed and told that will give them anything that they want, the first asked for the best wand and he got the Elder Wand.The second one asked for the resurrection stone.The third one asked for the cloak on invisibility.After that, the brother that asked for the elder wand got killed.The second brother killed himself.And the third brother died, A)so were those the things(hallows) that made them die or B)were those hallows from the death? or neither ?
